      <title>North Carolina Advocates Send Letter to Obama About CMS Policy</title>

      <description><![CDATA[On April 24, 2012, <strong>President Obama was hand-delivered a letter advocating for resolution on the recent actions of CMS that threaten to push low-income seniors out of adult care homes and into institutional settings.</strong> This could potentially make more than 11,000 frail seniors, including those with Alzheimer&#8217;s disease and related dementias, homeless. Rep Butterfield hand-delivered this letter to President Obama aboard Air Force One.       <description><![CDATA[This solicitation letter for House Bill 678 will be going in the mail today to all 600+ adult care home providers (7 beds and up). HB678 gives DHHS the authority to choose one adult care home to participate in a pilot program to allow certain inmates released from confinement to be placed in an adult care home. The letter contains instructions for visiting the DHHS's Web site to download the application for the program.
